Chapter Philanthropy

Sigma Kappa Sorority provides many opportunities for members to become involved in community service and philanthropic projects. Local community service projects we participate in include Race for the Cure, Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, canned food drives supporting the local Food Bank and Service Raleigh, a citywide day of service organized, planned and executed by students. Sigma Kappa members also support our fellow Greeks in their philanthropies. Other events we take part in are writing cards to the elderly and delivering them to nursing homes, as well as Greek Court Cleanup.

We held our Second Annual Sigma Kappa Ultra Violet Gala for our spring philanthropy event. It was held at The StateView Hotel on NC State's Centennial Campus on February 29th, 2019 with over 650 attendees. The Sigma Kappa Foundation’s philanthropic initiatives are Alzheimer’s Research and Gerontology, the Maine Seacoast Mission, and Inherit the Earth. The Foundation also supports leadership, scholarship, and philanthropic initiatives that reflect the values and spirit of Sigma Kappa Sorority. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Participants will learn about Alzheimer’s disease and how to get involved with this critical cause, from advocacy opportunities, the latest in Alzheimer’s research and clinical trials and support programs and services. Sigma Kappa Gamma Phi members participate in the Alzheimer’s Association annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s yearly and raised over $15,000 last year! Please donate to this cause through our team's link: http://act.alz.org/goto/sigmakappancsu. This year the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Raleigh, NC will be held September 29, 2019 at The North Carolina Museum of Art.
